Botanical Illustration Course AVAILABLE to Book

A comprehensive techniques based course which has been developing for over 10 years. Covers graphite and watercolour in detail and teaches you how to progress from basics of drawing, to studies and final accurate botanical illustrations of your chosen plant in both mediums. New sections on dissections and scaling and how to deal with overlapping parts are included in the next presentation.

NEW! ​Botanical Art for Beginners: Starting Small  Available now for immediate start 

Begin your botanical art journey with this new course, which assumes no knowledge or experience. 

The simple aim is to to get you drawing and painting simple subjects and it leads up to producing  small compositions as well as building your confidence by providing tutor support and constructive feedback! You will learn the basics in understanding materials, watercolour techniques,observation skills and basic drawing, colour mixing (limited palette) and will choose subjects through a selection of video tutorials. There are 4 assessed assignments: fruit and seedpods, buds, flowers ands petals, leaves and a final mixed composition. Cost £420 (deposit £150) remaining balance due before start date. There will be 15 student places available.

NEW! Advanced Botanical Illustration  Aimed at those seeking to follow a professional path who already have either experience or have completed the Botanical Illustration course and require mentoring. Acceptance will be upon application and submission of previous work via email. This course will be available for just 5 students each year. FULL Cost £950. There will be only 3 students taken in 2025, which will be the next opening.

A series of non-assessed affordable tutorials aimed at supporting learning or giving an introduction to the essential skills for the botanical artist. there are also the new mini tutorials, which are taster subjects for specific projects.

​Terms and Conditions

General Terms of Enrollment

Following enrollment in a Botanical Art Online course, students will receive email confirmation of their place on the course, usually within 24 hours.

Access to materials will be given by the course start date, via password access to the web site. While every effort is made to deliver the materials as described in the course outline, occasionally small changes may be made but these do not affect the overall running of the course.

Students will have access to the course materials for a period of 2 years, unless otherwise specified. Students may take up to that amount of time to complete the course.

If a student needs extra time to complete the course they should write to info@botanicalart-online.com requesting extension. If 2 years passes and no communication is made by the student, the student shall no longer be entitled to complete the course with tutor support and critiques, although they may complete the exercises in the materials in their own time without support. access to the online materials will no longer be available after 2 years.

 

Written critiques will be provided by the tutor following  submission of complete assignments in accordance with the details for each specific course. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a final critique.

Student work may be showcased on this website in the Student Gallery but only if permission has been granted by the student, acknowledgement of the ownership and copyright for the work will be detailed alongside the work.

Cancellation and Refunds

Please read the course description carefully before enrolling, and make sure that it is the right choice for you.

From September 2018:

If you enroll in a course and decide that the course is not for you, you may withdraw for a period up until one month  before the the course materials are sent out and will receive a full refund.

Thereafter, there will be a small cancellation fee of £30 for withdrawal. As it is often not possible to fill the place for late withdrawals.

Once access to materials has been given and within 10 days of the course start date, you may still withdraw, but a 30% deduction of the total course fee will be non- refundable.

After 10 days there is no legal responsibility to issue a refund, regardless of whether the student has completed the work or not.

For the Tutorials there is no refund and the sale is final, unless the materials have not or can not be downloaded or accessed. Once that materials have been downloaded, no refund is available.

Privacy Policy & use of Cookies

When you enter this website you receive a link asking you to accept the use of cookies and with a link to the privacy policy.

Personal information is collected for student identification purposes for course inquiries and if you register as an individual subscriber to the website for updates. If you no longer wish to subscribe to updates you should unsubscribe. When undertaking a course, information such as name, address and email address are kept only for the purpose of administering the course. Upon completion of the course, if you wish, you can email info@botanicalart-online.com, requesting that your details be removed from any records.

Your details will never be sold, distributed or shared to any third parties.
